When my husband and I were planning our April 2021 minimony, we really struggled to find an officiant. It took a lot of “get to know you” consults before we finally found a good fit. Many of the officiants or celebrants we talked to, had a hard time understanding us or the things that mattered most about our wedding ceremony. Instead of listening, we felt like they were trying to squeeze our diversity into a box. We felt what we wanted wasn’t important, but instead the officiants wanted us to follow their template. One thing I know for sure is that everyone’s love story is different and my goal is to tell your story in a way that reflects you.
It’s kind of a long story, but also kind of a short one! Officiating weddings wasn’t necessarily something I sought out, but more like something that was always meant for me.
Hello, I’m Carla, and I’m passionate about crafting unforgettable moments of love and commitment. With roots in both Chicago, Illinois and the sun-kissed shores of St. Pete/Tampa, Florida, my journey as a professional wedding officiant began with an unexpected turn of fate.
In 2001, I officiated my first wedding for close friends who decided to elope on St. Pete Beach. Little did I know that this moment would set me on a path filled with love, laughter, and joy. At the time, I was a notary and could perform cermonies, which led to a few more weddings for friends and referrals. However, my heart truly embraced officiating when I stepped in to assist a dear colleague, Sharon, who was battling terminal cancer. Her request marked a turning point in my career, and I soon found myself immersed in the world of creating and conduting wedding ceremonies.
How did I end up as a wedding officiant in chicago?
My ceremonies are a reflection of the couples I work with, from intimate elopements with just the couple and a photographer, to grand multicultural celebrations at luxurious Chicago venues. I take pride in offering a range of services, from traditional ceremonies to the unique “sign and go” option for those who prefer a quick and simple exchange of vows, almost like at the court house. My true passion, though, lies in crafting custom and creative, intentional wedding ceremonies that showcase the couple’s unique love story.

I’ve had the privilege of officiating countless unique ceremonies, each with its own special touch, whether it’s a fusion of cultural traditions or a unity ceremony tailored to the couple’s hobbies and interests. Plus, who can resist the charm of including your four-legged friends in the celebration?
